Description
The Volvo EC500 Hybrid Excavator from the Lego Technic series is one of the August 2025 models. The model is another licensed model in collaboration with Volvo, which is clearly reflected in the price. Unfortunately, the excavator fails to live up to the expectations created when it was first unveiled and the pictures were released. Considering its functions, the price is completely excessive, as the model has been completely stripped down to save money. There is only one motor and the functions have to be switched manually. Even pushing and turning the excavator has to be done by hand without motor assistance. Any kind of realistic excavation is completely impossible and is simply disappointing for the flagship model. The only positive feature is the quick-change adapter on the excavator arm, which allows the two attachments (shovel and breaker hammer) to be changed easily, just like in real life.
The bottom line is a 3-star rating.
