Description
The 4x4 Crawler Exclusive Edition is the first model of the Lego Technic series which was brought to the market only in a limited number. A total of 20,000 models were sold, each of them being numbered accordingly. Mine is number 16305 and the whole stock was sold out after only one week.
On the basis of the 9398 4x4 Crawler, Lego announced a competition called "You design it, we make it". With the 4x4 Crawler’s understructure as a base, it was possible to take part in the competition in which each fan could design the body. The winner was a Russian Lego fan, who can also be seen in the video above.
Even the packaging of this Crawler shows its uniqueness, because it can be opened and closed without damaging it. Moreover, both the actual box and the lid are printed on both sides. The last thing to mention is the higher-quality paper or cardboard from which this packaging was made. Awesome!
The model itself, at least from the understructure, corresponds to the original 9398. Also, it's remote-controlled. In addition, there are electrically illuminated headlights at the front and an electrically operated cable winch (unfortunately not remote-controller). The design is really well-made, also due to the dark blue, which was used for the body for the first time in Lego Technic history. The stickers, developed just for this model, round off the overall appearance. It’s a great model, which more than deserves the highest rating of six stars.
